1. Re-purpose as much as you can – it saves money and the environment
Redoing the driveway? Why not use the old concrete for a retaining wall or garden edge – it will add character, look like it’s always been there and won’t cost you a cent.
2. Keep brushes and rollers moist
Wrap them in cling film so they don’t dry out. It saves water, effort and time.
3. Unblock a drain
Run hot water down the drain for a minute, and then sprinkle 1 cup of baking soda down the drain. Slowly pour 1 cup of vinegar down the drain. Flush one more time with hot or boiling water.
4. Fix squeaky door hinges and floorboards
When wooden floorboards are causing the noise, add a dry lubricant to the problem area. Sprinkle powdered soapstone, talcum powder, or powdered graphite into the joints between the floorboards. Then place a cloth over the boards and walk back and forth to work the powdery lubricant down into the cracks.
5. Fix scratches in coffee tables and legs
Mix ½ cup of vinegar with ½ cup olive oil, rub it in, that’s it! It works !!
6. Remove toilet bowl stains
Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl, and let it sit overnight. Then wash it with soapy water, and flush clean.
